Tejiendo y bordando / Knitting and embroidery

Para aquellas personas que todavía tengan dudas sobre cómo se hace la randa, aquí les muestro un poco el proceso.

Hace unas semanas una amiga me regaló un bastidor redondo, de 60 cm. de diámetro. Nunca hice una randa de este tamaño, pero hay una primera vez para todo. Así que me puse manos a la obra. Estoy tejiendo la malla, que por ahora tiene 20 cm. de diámetro.

For those people who still having questions about how the randa lace is made, I show them here some of the process.

Few weeks ago a friend give me a 24 in. diameter round frame. I never made a randa that size, but there is a first time for everything, don't you think ? So, let's get to work! I'm knitting the mesh, by now it has 8 in. in diameter.

Las ondas que se ven aquí, desaparecerán al tensarla en el bastidor, para bordarla. Y para no aburrirme con un trabajo que me llevara un poco de tiempo terminar, sigo con una randa más pequeña.

The waves that you see here, will disappear wen I tauten in the round frame, to embroider it. Because It is a large project, I continue making a small randa, to keep me inspired.

Ya está en el bastidor y he comenzado a bordar. Como ven, no sigo ningún orden, puedo comenzar por cualquier punto en la randa. Tampoco sigo ningún patrón, voy diseñando a medida que voy bordando. Poco a poco les mostraré mis avances.

This randa is ready in the round frame to embroider. As you see, I don't follow any pattern, I design at the same time I do the embroidery.

Después de tanto tiempo, puedo contarles que finalmente terminé con la creación del Tutorial de Randa. Muchas me preguntaron dónde aprender esta técnica de encaje. Así que me decidí hace unos meses atrás a crear este tutorial. No fue tarea fácil, ya que no existe ningún documento escrito de cómo hacer Randa. Cajita para mis alfileres / Little box for my pins.

Que lindo es poder seguir publicando mis trabajos. Estuve un poco enferma y no tenía ánimo ni para tomar la aguja. Este pequeño proyecto lo hice para mis alfileres, que tanto uso para el encaje a bolillos o para mis costuras. Todavía sigo buscando ideas de cómo aplicar la randa a cosas de todos los días.Y así surgió esta cajita/alfiletero. Por dentro la forré con papel hecho a mano, y en la base le puse fieltro, para darle una mejor terminación.

Before I start this post, I want to tell you I was a bit sick and because of that I couldn't do Randa for a while.

I made this small project, to use it with my bobbin lace and sowing works. I'm still looking for new ideas to apply the Randa on everyday things. And this is one of the result, a little pin-case.

Inside I lined it with handmade paper and in the base I put a piece of felt to give it a better look.

Update: Je veux leur éclaircir que ce type de dentelle se nomme Randa et la maille ou le réseau est tissé d'abord et après il est brodé sur elle. Il est très pareil au filet mais une dentelle ronds aussi peuvent être faits.

Bordando, bordando... / Embroidering, embroidering...

María, mi tía, ha realizado esta randa rectangular con diseños geométricos. Pero esta tiene algo diferente a las otras. En esta foto tomada más cerca se puede ver que tiene algo de relieve.Esos como rulitos que se levantan en el centro, son puntos que no se siguieron tejiendo. Como este tipo de encaje se basa en nudos, los puntos no se deshacen. Mary, my aunt, made this rectangular randa with geometrical design. But this has something different. This picture show it more clearly, you can see the relief, they are loose stitches. Because this technique use knots, the stitches don't come undone. En cuanto a mí, estoy haciendo varios trabajos y técnicas a la vez. Me gusta mucho el bordado. No se si les conté: mi mami me enseñó a bordar a la edad de 4 años y hacía pequeñas servilletas para el mate ( para las que no saben, el mate es una especie de té que tomamos en Argentina) y se las regalaba a mi abuela . El Punto Cruz me tiene un poco enganchada.Visito siempre los blog que se dedican a este y encontré estos diseños de "Little House Needleworks" y me encantaron. Lo estoy bordando en lino y cambié un poquito los colores del modelo original. Espero pronto mostrarlo terminado.

As for me, I'm doing several projects with different techniques. I like the embroidery. I don't know if told you this before. My mother taught me to embroider at the age of 4 years, I use to do small napkins and they were given to my grandmother, to use them for the mate ( kind of tea original of Argentina). I allways visit blogs with Cross Stitch and there are designs like " Little House Needleworks" and I love it. I'm doing this one in linen and I change some of the colours. I hope to finish it soon.
